there are some folders on my HD that I cannot delete.
    leftovers from a game.
I try to delete them, and it gives me a "directory is not empty" spiel.
also, I cannot open said folders, as it gives me a "folder(or was it file) is corrupt and unreadable".

    what can I do?
I've defragged, scandisked, you name it...

Odds are there's some spyware "hidden" in the folders that's running in the background, that's why you can't remove it.

SO... you have to close down almost everything (CTRL-ALT-DLT) and turn off everything you can without it turning the system off (it depends on which version of windows you're running on which two files you need to keep running).

So be off the internet, since you have to turn off anti-virus, firewall, EVERYTHING. Then you can delete the folders no problem.

You *might* be able to simply delete them when in "safe" mode (F8 when booting up), but I can't say for sure. That is an easier thing to try first...

    Good luck!

    tried safe mode, no dice.
my last scan for spyware came up empty, but I'll give it another whirl.

I got it! I know how to fix this one!

    - Turn it off.
    - Unplug the Monitor, keyboard, mouse, internet, other misc items.
    - Pick up computer.
    - Lay it on its side.
    - Open it up.
    - Feed it a beer.

There are little scripts you can write and put them in your "startup".

    Look up batch file scripts.

they kind of look like this:

    (filename "deletefolder.bat"
    #command below
    del c:\program files\LameGameFolder\

(i think that would work). YOu'd have to put it in your startup folder though, then log out and then log back in (or reboot).

That might delete it. If you have a few folders you could do it like this:

    del c:\program files\LameGameFolder\
    del c:\program files\LameGameFolder2\
    del c:\program files\LameGameFolder3\
    del c:\program files\LameGameFolder3\
